MU Students Raise Funds for Hurricane Relief

MANSFIELD, PA—The Mansfield University Art & Design Guild has teamed with students in Associate Professor Michelle Schlegel’s Typography class to raise funds for hurricane relief in Texas and Florida.

“My class (GRA 3350) was given an assignment to visually address the Hurricane Harvey situation,” Schlegel said. “They paired up with the Art & Design Guild, who is sponsoring a fund drive for hurricane relief. While in the design process, Hurricane Irma struck, so we have widened the scope of where our donations will go including the American Red Cross, Houston SPCA and Florida Keys SPCA.”

Students in the Typography class designed posters to publicize Art & Design Guild effort. You can see the posters by clicking here.

Students have already set up a table to collect donations once this week and will be on the Student Mall twice more; Monday. September 18, 4-6 p.m. and Wednesday, September 20, 2-5 p.m. Checks should be made payable to Mansfield University Art & Design Guild.

The MU program is part of the AIGA “Design for Good” nation campaign.
