President’s Excellence in Art and Design Award Announced

MANSFIELD, PA—  President Scott Barton has announced the creation of the Mansfield University President’s Excellence in Art and Design Award. The first six recipients were honored in a ceremony on Friday, January 26.(L-R) Department of Art Chair Michelle Lockwood, Jessica O’Donnell, Interim President Scott Barton, David Ketchum, Anna Nelson, Interim Provost John Ulrich, Noelle Erickson. Ariel Funke and Gabrielle Keener not able to attend the presentation.

The Art department faculty selected the works, which were judged to be of professional quality.

The first honorees, selected for art and design projects they completed last year, are Noelle Erickson, Ariel Funke, Gabrielle Keener, David Ketchum, Anna Nelson, and Jessica O’Donnell.

Funke and Keener were unable to attend the presentation and will be honored at a later date.

“This new award is a way for us to honor and celebrate the work of our talented students who are studying in the Department of Art at Mansfield University,” Barton said. “I am honored and proud to display their outstanding work in an area where people will be able to admire and appreciate it.”

The artwork is on display in the President’s Lobby on the fifth floor of North Hall. The exhibit will be expanded in the near future with the ultimate goal of encompassing the entire north wing of North Hall. The gallery is open to the public.

Additional works will be added to The President’s Excellence in Art and Design Award at the end of each semester.
