Mansfield Chemistry Majors Earn Prestigious Internships

MANSFIELD, PA— Mansfield University Chemistry majors Christopher Haines and Katherine Thompson have obtained prestigious internship opportunities this summer.

Haines, a junior from Lancaster, PA, has been awarded a 10-week internship with Corning, Incorporated at the company’s Sullivan Park facility in Painted Post, NY. The internship includes housing, room and board and a stipend.

Haines has also had a poster accepted for the National American Chemical Society Meeting this March in New Orleans.

Thompson, a sophomore from Greenville, PA, has been awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) internship at West Virginia University, working in Nanotechnology. The 10-week REU includes housing, room and board and a stipend.
