Mansfield University Students Celebrate Chinese New Year

MANSFIELD, PA– Mansfield University international students rang in Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, on February 16.The students, along with visiting scholars Lillian Li Wang and Judy Caihong Zou, prepared more than a dozen traditional Chinese dishes.

The event was organized by Marie Domenech, director of the Mansfield University Center for International Cooperation and Exchange. President Scott Barton and Provost John Ulrich also attended the feast, along with other staff and faculty members.

Chinese New Year is the most important holiday in China. It is a time for family and friends to get together to wish each other prosperity, health, and happiness in the new year.

According to the Chinese lunar calendar, 2018 is the Year of the Dog. Festivities lasted for 15 days until the Lantern Festival on March 2.
