The 22nd Annual Octoboefest! concert will be held on Saturday, Octoboe 27, 2018, at 4:30 pm in Steadman Theatre on the Mansfield University campus. Octoboefest! is a chamber music recital featuring the students from the Mansfield University double reed studio under the direction of Dr. Susan Laib.
Come hear all members of the double reed family: oboe, oboe d’amore, English horn, bassoon, and contrabassoon, in duets, trios, quartets, quintets, and all together.
For the 13th year, there will also be a guest double reed ensemble of area junior high and high school students. A workshop for the guest oboists and bassoonists will be held earlier in the day. Students will join in an afternoon of double reed ensemble playing and receive some pointers to improve their playing, culminating in their participation in the early evening performance.
The program will commence with both Ensembles performing Two Renaissance Dances by Tielman Susato, an annual tradition. Whether you’d like to join Octoboefest! as a performer or an audience member, we look forward to seeing you at 4:30 pm on Octoboe 27, 2018, in Steadman Theatre.
