MANSFIELD, PA— The Collection Collaboration Campaign, a service project conducted by Mansfield University students, has reached a successful conclusion.
More than 40 volunteers, led by Project Director Jason White and Assistant Project Director Colton Long collected clothing, arts and crafts and children’s toys for El Salvador and Tioga County over the past month. The donations were sorted and packaged as part of MU’s Big Event community-wide service day on April 18.
Cold weather clothing will be delivered to the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Wellsboro to be distributed through the Tioga County Homeless Initiative for people in need.
The warm weather clothing, arts, crafts and children’s toys will be sent to El Salvador and the Village of San Rafael.
“The MU Student Government Association (SGA) and several individuals made donations to cover the shipping costs to send the collected items to El Salvador,” White said.
Daniel Teodoro, a 2014 MU graduate, has done extensive work to help the people of San Rafael, an impoverished island village in his home country through his non-profit EMANA, which means “energia humana” or “human energy.” White travelled to San Rafael Tasajera with Teodoro last summer.

White said the success of this project truly was a community effort 
and he owes thanks to the many individuals, groups, organizations and businesses who lent their support. He did give special thanks to the First Citizens Community Banks in Mansfield and Troy and the Mountie Den campus bookstore for serving as collection points and SGA for its support.
“This entire project depended on the generosity and goodness of others, from the collection site sponsors to the volunteers and the people making donations,” White said. “This project has been a combination of small acts of generosity that are going to make a big difference for hundreds of people.”
