MANSFIELD, PA\u2014<\/strong> Martin Pane, U.S. Marshal for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, was awarded the Mansfield University Presidential Coin for Excellence by President Fran Hendricks on November 19.\"MU<\/a><\/strong>The presentation was made after Pane, who earned his Bachelor\u2019s degree in Criminal Justice Administration (CJA) from Mansfield in 1987, delivered a guest lecture to Criminal Justice Administration (CJA) students.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pane returns to campus frequently to speak to CJA classes and network with students and faculty. He has also been instrumental in assisting several MU students receive internships with the U.S. Marshals Service.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat a perfect setting, in a classroom after interacting with our students, to honor Marshall Pane\u201d MU President Fran Hendricks said. \u201cMarty is a great supporter of our CJA program and Mansfield University as a whole. He has given back to MU and credits the University for preparing him for his career. He is exceptionally deserving of this honor.\u201d\"U.S.<\/a><\/strong>The Middle District of Pennsylvania is an area that covers 33 counties including Tioga County and Mansfield. During his 27-year career with the U.S. Marshals Service, Pane is the first and only person to earn promotion to every managerial position in the Middle District. He was appointed to his present position by President Obama in October 2011.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The coin was developed by Hendricks and designed by MU Publications Director Andy Worthington. It is awarded selectively to persons who have made significant contributions to the university, using the attributes of the Mansfield Creed; Character, Scholarship, Culture and Service as a guideline.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The coin bears several symbols representing historical highlights and other aspects of the university that make it distinctive.<\/strong><\/p>\n
