MANSFIELD, PA\u2014<\/strong> The Mansfield University community is mourning the passing of Shaker Ramasamy, chair of the Department of Chemistry and Physics, who died suddenly on Wednesday, December 2.\"Dr.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Ramasamy came to Mansfield as an assistant professor in 1984. He was promoted to associate professor in 1990 and full professor in 1994.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cDr. Ramasamy was a consummate professional and epitomized what education is all about,\u201d MU President Fran Hendricks said. \u201cShaker\u2019s expertise and the connection he formed with his students and colleagues was unsurpassed. This is a tremendous loss for our University. We extend our deepest sympathies to his wife, Mani, and their son and daughter.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mani Ramasamy is a member of the staff in MU\u2019s Academic and Human Development Department.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ramasamy held degrees from University of Madras and Oklahoma State University, where he earned his PhD in 1984.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Shaker<\/a>Calling hours will be held Saturday, 1-3 p.m. at Wilston Funeral Home, 130 S. Main Street, Mansfield. Sunday at 11 a.m., a\u00a0 memorial service will be held in Alumni Hall, Room 307.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Counseling services are being made available to all students, faculty and staff through the University\u2019s Counseling Center.
