MANSFIELD, PA\u2014<\/strong>The Pennsylvania State System of <\/a>\"Fran<\/a>Higher Education\u2019s (PASSHE)<\/a> Board of Governors has extended the contract of Mansfield University President Fran Hendricks, nine other PASSHE University presidents and Chancellor Frank T. Brogan through June 30, 2019.<\/p>\n

The action came at the Board of Governors meeting on Thursday, July 14 in Harrisburg.<\/p>\n

The Board of Governors is responsible for the employment of the 14 PASSHE University presidents and the chancellor.<\/p>\n

The decision whether to renew a president\u2019s contract is made annually, based on the recommendations of each University\u2019s Council of Trustees and Chancellor Brogan.<\/p>\n

The Mansfield Council of Trustees unanimously recommended Hendricks receive a contract extension.<\/p>\n

Hendricks, a 1979 Mansfield graduate, assumed the MU presidency on May 28, 2013. He retired as a Brigadier General in the Air Force after 34 years of service to return to his alma mater.<\/p>\n

PASSHE university presidents initially receive a three-year \u201crolling contract,\u201d which is subject to annual review. As a result of that performance-based review, a president\u2019s contract can be extended by a year.<\/p>\n

Cheyney and West Chester Universities are being led by interim presidents and are not eligible to be considered for an extension. The presidents at California and Edinboro Universities were appointed earlier this year and also were also not considered for contract extensions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
