MANSFIELD, PA\u2014<\/strong>Six Mansfield University Computer Information Science (CIS) and Graphic Design students, accompanied by Career Center Director Nichole Lefelhoc, toured the Corning Museum of Glass (CMoG) on April 4 to learn about museum operations and internship opportunities.\"CMoG<\/a>The students who participated in the event were Jacques Gates, Jason Heyer, Jeffrey Miller, Dylan Milroy, Perry White and Taylor McConnell.<\/p>\n

Founded in 1951 by Corning Glass Works (now Corning Incorporated) as a gift to the nation for the company\u2019s 100th anniversary, CMoG, located in Corning, NY, is a not-for-profit museum dedicated to telling the story of a single material: glass.<\/p>\n

Jessica Trump, a 2006 MU graduate and CMoG supervisor for Volunteer and Internship Programs, offered the students an overview of the many facets of museum operations and the internship opportunities available with the museum. Students received a guided tour of the museum, which included a behind the scenes look at the Creative and Information Technology Departments.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re excited for the opportunity to further strengthen ties with Mansfield University for these internship opportunities,\u201d Trump said. \u201cWe see it as an excellent opportunity to foster the relationship with a local institution and develop local talent within the region.\u201d\"CMoG<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m interested in seeing the workflow and gaining hands-on experience that will allow me to apply what I\u2019ve learned in my classes to real world applications.\u201d Jason Heyer, sophomore CIS major, said of the experience and the possibility of a CMoG internship.<\/p>\n
