MANSFIELD, Pa. \u2013 Mansfield University Director of Police Services & Director of the MU Municipal Police Academy Scott Henry \u201884 was honored by county, state, and U.S. legislators during a visit to campus on Monday, Oct. 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Henry was presented with citations\nfrom the Pennsylvania Senate, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, and\nthe Tioga County Commissioners along with the congressional record of\nCongressman Fred Keller honoring Henry on the floor of the U.S. House of\nRepresentatives last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The honors were a result of Henry\nbeing recognized with the 2020 Pennsylvania Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) John\nRadko Police Officer of the Year Award and the VFW National Law Enforcement\nOfficer Award in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The congressional record was presented\nby Rep. Keller who said \u201cthere\u2019s not a better honor than to be in the House of\nRepresentatives and recognize our outstanding citizens that make our community\nthe place it is.\u201d Pennsylvania State Rep. Clint Owlett and Tioga County\nCommissioners Erick Coolidge, Mark Hamilton, and Roger Bunn presented their\nrespective citations with Pennsylvania Senator and President Pro Tempore Joseph\nScarnati represented by Deb Rudy from Scarnati\u2019s Wellsboro office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each of the legislators spoke about\nHenry\u2019s service to the region and the state before presenting their honors. Dr.\nCharles Patterson, President of Mansfield University,\u00a0told the small group\nabout the impact that Henry has made at Mansfield University. Patterson also\nadded \u201cit\u2019s been an honor to recognize Scott Henry and to have our Congressman,\nour representatives and our county commissioners come out and honor his service\nto Mansfield University.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bringing with him more than 30 years\nof law enforcement experience, Henry returned to his alma mater in 2017 to\nserve in his current role. In his time at Mansfield, Henry helped establish the\nMU Public Safety Training Institute (MUPSTI) and has further elevated the\nreputation of Mansfield\u2019s Act 120 Municipal Police Academy. Henry has also\nembraced innovative training practices and technology, such as the use of\nvirtual reality, in the instruction of current and future first responders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI accept these on behalf of the team,\u201d\nsaid Henry after receiving the honors. \u201cI wouldn\u2019t be here without the positive\nrelationships that I\u2019ve developed over the years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
