<\/figure>\n\n\n\nWhile checks and other gifts continue to come in, as of\nApril 8, the University officially raised over $105,168 during this fundraiser\nto support scholarships for Mansfield University students. This marks the\nlargest dollar amount raised during a single university event, helping MU\nsubstantially exceed its initial $25,000-dollar goal for the campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Our donors did not disappoint,” Hanna added.\n“We asked them to go ‘All-In’ and demonstrate the exponential impact\ngiving in numbers has on all students, and they did just that. Each gift, no\nmatter the size, makes a difference in the lives of our students, when and\nwhere it is needed most.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Throughout the Giving Day, various challenges were\nannounced, with donors having an opportunity to unlock additional support. The\nFamily of Howard & Olynda (Chaffee) ’57 Smith issued a challenge supporting\nacademic scholarships for concert choir students to the tune of $10,000. Sig\nTau Gamma Gamma Alpha Alumni Association also cast their support with $10,000\nearmarked for student organizations at Mansfield to enhance student\nopportunities and leadership development. Interim President Hanna and his\nadministrative team generated participation from alumni who graduated within\nthe past 10 years. Multiple Mansfield Alumni launched additional challenges and\nmatches during the campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The April Giving Day raised more than five times the amount\nof Mansfield\u2019s successful Giving Tuesday campaign held in November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This is the momentum we anticipated,\u201d explained Casey\nWood, Mansfield University executive director of advancement. \u201cWe look forward\nto capitalizing on this great achievement as we continue to support our\nadvancement operations for the benefit of MU students.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Giving Day also celebrated the University\u2019s partnership\nwith the community. Nine local businesses offered community discounts and\npromotions during Giving Day. The participating businesses included Night &\nDay Coffee Caf\u00e9, Conspiracy Coffee, Papa V’s Pizzeria, Sara Jo’s Stop and Go\n(SUBWAY), Sara Jo’s Stop and Go (Yogurt Station), LIL Half Pint, Yorkholo\nBrewing Company & Eatery, Thin Line Tavern, and Hotties Hot off the Grill.\nThis opportunity was made possible through a partnership with the Mansfield\nUniversity Alumni Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Local band Chasing Rabbits, featuring MU alums Jude Noldy\n\u201998 and Lori Barrett \u201986, performed a free concert at Straughn Auditorium to\ncelebrate Giving Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
