MANSFIELD, Pa. \u2013 Mansfield University and the Mansfield\nAuxiliary Corporation (MAC) commemorated the 10th<\/sup> anniversary of the\nfirst set of suite-style residence halls opening on campus with the dedication\nof plaques displayed in all four buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MAC was formed in 2009 as a 501(c)3 charitable corporation\nconsisting of volunteers from the community to assist MU in the construction of\nreplacement student housing on the Mansfield campus. Under the MAC Board\u2019s\nleadership and guidance, Oak and Hickory Halls opened in January 2012.\u00a0 Sycamore Hall opened in September 2013 and\nSpruce Hall opened in January 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plaques read \u201cMansfield Auxiliary Corporation, a 501(c)3\ncorporation empaneled by Mansfield University President Maravene Loeschke to\nfinance, design, and build new suite-style residence halls. This group of\ndedicated community leaders gave countless hours of time throughout two housing\nprojects over eight years to ensure a quality housing community in support of\nthe University. Their service was indispensable in achieving the desired goal.\nThe halls were recognized by being ranked #10 of more than 1,300 on the list of\n2022 Best College Dorms in America according to Niche\u201d and list the Board of\nDirectors: President David Cummings, Brian Barden, Deborah Bastian, Randall\nBlack, Charles Colby, Bruce Dart, Mark Eby, Fred LaVancher, Lawrence Mansfield,\nRobert McConnell, Alan Quimby, Jessica Ricker, and Legal Counsel W. Patrick\nScott, Esq.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMansfield\u2019s high-quality\nresidence halls continue to provide our students with an enjoyable and\ncomfortable setting that adds value to their on-campus experience,\u201d said Dr.\nJohn M. Ulrich, Mansfield University\u2019s Provost.\u00a0 \u201cI am grateful for the\nMansfield Auxiliary Corporation\u2019s role in developing our housing options at MU\nand for their ongoing support of Mansfield\u2019s students.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The residence halls offer up to five different styles of\nfurnished living units that include air conditioning, individual bathrooms, micro-fridges,\nhigh-speed internet, one-card secure access, and laundry facilities and study\nlounges on each floor. Each building includes at least one kitchen, a game\nroom, and a multi-purpose recreation area among other amenities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To help ensure a positive living environment, each hall is\noperated by a full-time, live-in professional staff member who is assisted by\nstudent staff members living on each residence hall floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mansfield\u2019s residence halls are regularly regarded as some\nof the best in the nation. This past fall, the residence halls were ranked 10th<\/sup>\non Niche\u2019s list of 2022 Best College Dorms in America and were 2nd<\/sup>\nin Pennsylvania out of more than 100 colleges and universities listed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe most satisfying aspect of the\nNiche ranking\u00a0for MAC members is that these resulted from polling students\nthemselves,\u201d explained Chuck Colby, President of the MAC Board.\u00a0\u201cWhat a complement\nto our process of consistently involving student input.\u00a0While recently touring the\nfacilities with a group of civil engineers, everyone was astounded at the\nexcellent condition of the hallways and lounges, especially,\u00a0adding\ncredence to studies concluding students take pride in facilities they enjoy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
