On Wednesday, April 19, Commonwealth University co-hosted a college expo in partnership with Sen. Art Haywood at Enon Tabernacle Church in Philadelphia. During the expo, high school students from Sen. Haywood’s district gathered to learn about the college application process and college life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students in attendance had access to resource tables\n and college administrative staff from CU to learn and ask questions. \nThe expo covered topics such as the benefits of higher education, how to\n choose the right major, how to navigate scholarships and financial aid,\n and what life as a college student looks like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It was wonderful \nto be a part of this event and to meet the students in Sen. Haywood’s \ndistrict,” said Dr. Bashar W. Hanna, Commonwealth U president. “At \nCommonwealth U, our number one priority is student success. We care \ndeeply about our students and want to see them achieve their dreams and \nreach their professional goals.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Our mission at Commonwealth U is\n to expand high-quality, affordable, academic opportunities to support \nthe needs of all learners,” Hanna added. “Our programs are in line with \ntoday’s in-demand fields and careers and 99% of our recent alumni are \nemployed or in grad school within one year of graduation.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following\n an immediate ask from Sen. Haywood, Commonwealth University has \ncommitted to guaranteeing admittance to the 150 students who attended \ntoday’s expo after graduating high school and meeting a GPA requirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We\n know the many benefits of having a college degree,” Haywood said. “And \nif we know the benefits, we should be guaranteeing that opportunity to \nevery student possible.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The joining together of Bloomsburg, Lock\n Haven, and Mansfield universities – three powerhouse institutions – \nmeans more opportunity for our students,” Hanna said. “Through academic \nofferings, scholarship opportunities, and affordability measures – we \nare laser focused on providing transformative educational \nopportunities.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“At Commonwealth University, our top priority is \nstudent success,” Hanna added. “We are dedicated to providing access to \nan affordable, quality education, which is why we’re so pleased to \ncollaborate with Sen. Haywood on this event and offer guaranteed \nadmittance to all students in attendance meeting the university’s \nadmissions requirements. We look forward to welcoming them to the \nCommonwealth University family.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
