MANSFIELD, PA\u2014<\/strong> Mansfield University\u2019s celebration of Women\u2019s History Month continued on Wednesday, March 25 with \u201cThis Is What A Feminist Looks Like\u201d Day as part of Project Equality.\"Students,<\/a>The project, spearheaded by MU students Angel King, a Community Health Education major from Athens, PA, and Kate Gavin, a Human Resources Management major from Canisteo, NY, involved the distribution of t-shirts to more than 450 students, faculty and staff to be worn on Wednesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The t-shirt says, \u201cMansfield University, This Is What A Feminist Looks Like\u201d on th<\/strong>\"Feminist<\/a>e front. The back reads, \u201cFeminism: The Belief That Everyone Sh<\/strong>ould Be Treated Equally.”
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cLast August, Kate and I attended a women’s leadership conference,\u201d King said. \u201cThe conference focused on feminism and we weren’t 100% sure where we stood with that, but we learned quickly that almost everyone, even though they may not say it, is a feminist. We learned that the negative connotation with that word needs to be erased and people need to understand what it really means.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The pair returned to campus and gathered support for their project. The Student Government Association (SGA), Students Advocating for Everyone (SAFE), The President’s Commission on the Status of Women, the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) Women’s Consortium and the MU Human Resources Department all signed on as sponsors.<\/strong><\/p>\n
