MANSFIELD, PA\u2014<\/strong> \u201cOperation Goodies,\u201d to benefit Goodies For Our Troops, will be held on Thursday, April 9, 4- 8 p.m. in Decker Gymnasium.\"Operation<\/a>Goodies For Our Troops, based in Wellsboro, is a nonprofit, completely volunteer organization that collects donations and sends care packages to military troops from the Twin Tiers who are currently serving overseas.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The event will feature food, games and music, provided by WNTE-FM, \u201cThe Giant.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Food offerings for $2 a plate will include hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, cookies, salad, water and soda.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There will be a hot dog eating contest at 5 p.m. and a pie eating contest at 6 p.m. There is a $3 entry fee for each contest and the winners will receive prizes.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

There will also be a raffle drawing to win $50 as well as raffles to win prizes, including gift certificates to local businesses. Raffle tickets are 50 cents each and you must be present to win. Drawing for the $50 will be held between 5:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A collection box will be available for donations of nonperishable goods and male and female hygiene products. Any donated items will be sent directly to serving troops from the Twin Tiers area.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cOperation Goodies\u201d is organized by members of the Public Relations Workshop class at MU. They would like to thank all the area businesses who donated to make the event possible.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
