MANSFIELD, PA\u2014<\/strong> Mansfield University has been named Donor Group\"(L-R)<\/a> of the Year and MU senior James Querry as Volunteer of the Year by the Community Blood Bank (CBB) of Northwest Pennsylvania and Western New York.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lora Cope, CBB Mobile Drive coordinator, made the presentation to Querry and MU President Fran Hendricks at the CBB Blood Drive held on campus April 21-22.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI am envied by my colleagues when I speak of the overwhelming support and commitment CBB receives from Mansfield University,\u201d Cope said. \u201cThe Community Blood Bank is grateful to recognize Mansfield University as a true community champion.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cService is a major component of our Creed here at Mansfield,\u201d Hendricks said. \u201cOur students, and the staff who support them, deserve the credit for this honor and for their commitment to helping others.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"(L-R)<\/a>Cope praised Querry, a Nutrition and Dietetics major from Huntingdon, PA and member of Phi Sigma Kappa, for being the driving force behind Mansfield\u2019s successful blood drive efforts over the past two years.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe first began working with James when he helped with the blood drives though Greek Life,\u201d she said. \u201cJames was always one of the first on the scene and the last to leave. Over the past two years James has lead the organization and support of the CBB Blood Drives.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I started doing this I didn\u2019t think anything of it,\u201d Querry said. \u201cI do this because community service is one of the things I\u2019ve always liked to do.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cBecause of the leadership James has shown, CBB has instituted a best practice with the position of the student donor chair\/liaison,\u201d Cope added. \u201cThis best practice has been presented at other colleges and universities and has opened doors where we were experiencing challenges in the past.\u201d\"(L-R)<\/a>Cope also thanked Associate Director for Student Life Mary Beth Kollar, Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management Chris Bridges, the Mansfield Inter-Fraternity and Panhellenic Councils and all the Greek organizations for their support of CBB Blood Drives at MU.<\/strong><\/p>\n
