Mansfield Team Finishes Second at Student Nurse Challenge

MANSFIELD, PA— A team of Mansfield University junior Nursing students finished in second place at the 15th annual Geoffrey Allan Walp Memorial Student Nurse Challenge, held at East Stroudsburg University on Thursday, April 26.

“This is quite an accomplishment, especially given the fact that our MU junior nursing students competed against senior nursing students from the other seven schools,” Assistant Professor and Nursing Program Director Jamie Klesh said. “I am so proud of our students.” Klesh served as team advisor.

The students on the Mansfield team were Tatum Albertson, Becky Altomare, Katie Greene, Madeline Jenkins, Jordyn King, Kendra Knapp, Marlea Nolan, Nicole Williams, Brandon Yost and Christine Zalaffi

The challenge tests the students knowledge in multiple areas of nursing practice. Its purpose is to help nursing students prepare for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN), which is a mandatory test that will grant licensure into professional practice.
