MANSFIELD, PA— Representatives from the Ocean City, MD Police Department (OCPD) visited Mansfield University on October 22 to give a presentation to Criminal Justice Administration (CJA) students about paid internship and seasonal employment opportunities available with the Department. A question and answer session immediately followed the presentation.“Interested students would gain knowledge, police academy training and real-world experience working in the criminal justice field, all the while getting paid and being on the beach for the entire summer,” Assistant Professor Justin Crowl said.
A number of employment opportunities are available with the Department, including seasonal and full time police officers along with public safety aides and communications operators. Students interested in a police officer position, upon conclusion of training, would be uniformed, have full arrest powers, and have the ability to perform vital police functions, from law enforcement and crime prevention to providing social services and order maintenance.
“Students who work for OCPD as a summer job can also use this experience as an internship to gain course credit,” Crowl said.
Interested students should contact a CJA faculty member for assistance.
