Council of Trustees Honors Softball Standout Ashley Inman

MANSFIELD, PA—The Mansfield University Council of Trustees honored student-athlete Ashley Inman at their regular bi-monthly meeting on Wednesday, November 18.(L-R) Trustee Pamela Witmer, Trustee Robert Strohecker, Trustee Max Gannon Jr., Trustee Chairman Ralph Meyer, Ashley Inman, MU Softball Head Coach Edith Gallagher, MU President Fran Hendricks, Trustee Karen Russell, Trustee Aaron Singer, Student Trustee appointee Mackenzie Hafer.Ralph Meyer, chairman of the Council of Trustees, presented a citation to  Inman, a senior Education major from Tunkhannock, PA, and praised her courage, determination and dedication in returning to the softball diamond and the classroom after undergoing emergency brain surgery.

One week prior to the start of her junior year in 2014, Inman underwent emergency brain surgery hours after doctors discovered a bleed on her brain was pushing her brain into her skull. She returned to school in time to play her junior season and was the winning pitcher in 75 percent of MU’s victories in 2015.

On September 28, Inman was presented with the ECAC Award of Valor which recognizes an exceptional student-athlete whose courage, motivation and relentless determination serves as an inspiration to all.

The citation reads, “The Council of Trustees of Mansfield University of Pennsylvania congratulates Ashley Inman as the recipient of the prestigious ECAC Award of Valor and an outstanding ambassador for Mansfield University, Ashley has instilled a sense of pride throughout the University community and beyond.”
