English Majors Present at National Conference

MANSFIELD, PA— Four Mansfield University English majors and one alumna presented their research and creative writing at the Sigma Tau Delta International Honor Society Conference held in Minneapolis, MN March 2-5.Front (L-R): Courtney Mauck '15, Miranda Peery. Back (L-R): Rachel Roupp, Riley Thomas, Adrian Peery.Two students were chosen to present critical papers. Miranda Peery’s paper was titled “’Sovereynette’: Power in the Age of Chaucer” and Adrian Peery’s was titled “National Identity: Xenophobia.”

Rachel Roupp read a collection of her poetry titled “From Crush to Closure: The Poems of a Relationship.”

Riley Thomas presented poetry as well.

In addition, Courtney Mauck, a May 2015 graduate and member of Sigma Tau Delta who is doing post graduate work at Northern Michigan University, presented a paper at the conference.

The MU Xi Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, advised by Professor Andrea Harris, has 10 members and is soon to induct several more. The group promotes the appreciation of literature through campus activities and fundraising efforts.
