Mansfield Turns R.E.D. to Support the Military

MANSFIELD, PA— The Mansfield University campus community is urged to wear red for R.E.D. (Remember Everyone Deployed) on Fridays as a sign of support and to raise awareness for U.S. troops and their families.

DCIM101GOPROOn Friday, April 15, members of the campus community gathered at Karl Van Norman Field to spell out their support, forming R.E.D. in human letters for pictures taken by Geosciences majors Wes Glowitz and Adam Leister with a drone from their department.

The R.E.D. Friday movement was born of an idea from MU student and veteran Cecil Cooper last year and this year had the backing of the MU chapter of the Student Veterans of America (SVA) and the Military & Veterans Organization (MVO).

“The reason we do events like today is to honor every single soldier that has ever deployed or is currently deployed, and not just the soldiers themselves but their families too.” Cooper said. “R.E.D. Friday is for every soldier, who we should remember every day but on Fridays especially, because that is when we show our colors.”MU employees and students who are veterans, ROTC or active duty who participated in the R.E.D.
