MANSFIELD, PA— Karen Guenther, professor of History
at Mansfield University, has won the William and Elizabeth Hiester Manuscript Competition sponsored by the Berks History Center in Reading, PA for 2015.
The Hiester Award, which recognizes excellence in research in Berks County history, includes a $250 award and publication of the manuscript.
Guenther’s submission, “Ministering to the Needs of ‘Foreign and American Germans’: The Foundation and Early Years of Zion’s German Reformed Church, Reading, PA,” will appear in the Summer 2016 issue of Historical Review of Berks County, the quarterly journal published by the Berks History Center.
