MANSFIELD, PA— Several Mansfield University employees competed in the Wineglass Weekend races held in Corning, NY, on October 1-2.
John Cosgrove, director of Institutional Research, ran the Wineglass Marathon on Sunday, finishing in under four hours. It was Cosgrove’s second year running the marathon, and he improved his time substantially this year.
Howard Iseri, professor of Mathematics, competed in the Half Marathon on Sunday and finished first in his age group with a time under 1:30:00.
Ruth Hermansen, associate director of Student Life and Retention, also ran the Half Marathon, one day after finishing a 20K trail race in Williamsport.
Karri Verno, associate professor of Psychology, ran the Half Marathon as well, her very first half marathon race.
Lynn Hinman, fiscal technician for College Community Services, finished first in her age group in the Corelle 5K on Saturday.
John Ulrich, dean of the College of Arts and Humanities, also ran the Corelle 5K race in Corning on Saturday, finishing 11th out of 26 in his age group.
This year marked the 35th anniversary of the increasingly popular Wineglass Marathon. More than 1900 runners competed in the marathon, nearly 2700 in the half marathon, and more than 700 in the 5K.
This year’s marathon winner was MU alumnus Bryan Morseman ’08, who won his third consecutive Wineglass Marathon and his fourth overall, finishing with a time of 2:24:49.
