Chinese University Delegation Visits MU

The NCWU representatives included Professor Pin Shi, vice-chairman of NCWU and dean of the School of Art and Design; Professor Xiangtian Nie, dean of the School of Water Resources; Professor Jinyong Wu, deputy dean of the School of Art and Design; Associate Professor Fule Han, director of the International Office; and Associate Professor Hongxiang Wang of the School of Water Resources.

The delegation’s visit was a follow-up to John Ulrich, dean of the College of Arts and Humanities, and Brad Lint, MU’s US-China Exchange coordinator, visiting the NCWU campus last June to discuss possible collaborations between the two universities.

After a brief welcome luncheon, the delegation met with Provost and VP for Academic Affairs Steve Siconolfi; Nancy Sidell, dean of the College of Natural and Social Sciences; Michelle Schlegel, chairperson of the Department of Art, as well as Ulrich and Lint.

Discussions focused primarily on collaborations involving the English and Graphic Design programs at both universities.

ncwu-delegation-2The delegation also met with MU President Fran Hendricks, who welcomed the representatives to MU and expressed his desire to build stronger ties between the two universities.

After meeting the President, the delegation toured North Hall, Sycamore Residence Hall, and Allen Hall.  While the delegation was visiting Allen Hall, Adjunct Professor Alan Bennett invited the visitors into his Ceramics class, where they admired the students’ projects and observed a truly hands-on learning experience in progress.

NCWU is located in Zhengzhou and has over 15,000 students in 50 undergraduate majors and 28 graduate programs.
