MANSFIELD, PA— Longtime Trustee and Mansfield alumna Ada Mae Saxton was awarded the Mansfield University Presidential Coin for Excellence by President Fran Hendricks on February 3.
Saxton of Harrisburg, PA, a 1953 Mansfield graduate, served on the Council of Trustees from 1997 until retiring from the board in 2013.
“Ada Mae’s support of our university has been constant and unwavering,” Hendricks said. “From her work as a Trustee, her support of alumni events and her establishing a scholarship for music students, she has always shown her love of Mansfield. Ada Mae is very deserving of this honor.”
The coin was developed by Hendricks and designed by MU Senior Graphics Designer Andy Worthington. It is awarded selectively to persons who have contributed greatly to the university, using the Mansfield Creed; Character, Scholarship, Culture and Service as a guideline.
The coin bears several symbols representing historical highlights and other aspects of the university that make it distinctive.
