MANSFIELD, PA— Shameeka Mattis-Pinard, director of Programs for Common Justice, a victim service and alternative to incarceration program based in Brooklyn, NY, visited campus on February 9 to speak with students about restorative justice and her profession.Mattis-Pinard advances alternative sentencing for violent crimes that transforms the lives of victims and fosters racial equity without relying on incarceration for youthful offenders.
The event was sponsored by Lambda Alpha Epsilon (LAE) – American Criminal Justice Association, a national professional coed fraternity for criminal justice students, along with the Student Government Association, Black Student Union and Phi Alpha Honor Society.
