MANSFIELD, PA— Terry Lee Goffee and his band will perform the “Ultimate Johnny Cash Tribute” at Straughn Hall on Saturday, April 8 at 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 7 p.m.
Goffee brings the music of the country legend to life on stage with hit songs like Walk the Line, Folsom Prison Blues and Ring of Fire.
“I wanted to make my show different and unique by portraying Johnny Cash in the first person, rather than just standing there singing the songs,” Goffee says. “Like an actor in a play, I literally become my character and in this case, Johnny Cash, from the moment I walk on stage until the end of the show.”
Goffee has performed his tribute across the U.S. and in Canada, Ireland and the United Kingdom. In 2009 he was selected to provide the moves for the Johnny Cash character in the video game Guitar Hero 5.
“His last performance here seven years ago in Straughn Auditorium was one of the most talked about shows at MU,” KC 101 Owner Kevin Thomas said.
KC 101 and the Office of Student Activities are co-sponsoring the concert.
Tickets are for $10 for MU students, $16 for the general public and $5 for children ages 12 and under. Ticket handling charges do apply. All seating is general admission.
Tickets go on sale Friday, March 3.
Tickets are available at the Mountie Den (Campus Bookstore) Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and at the Mansfield Chamber of Commerce during normal business hours. Tickets are also available on-line at mansfield.tix.com.
A portion of the ticket sale proceeds will benefit the Mansfield University Student Veterans Organization (MUSVO).
