MANSFIELD, PA—The Mansfield University Council of Trustees, upon the recommendation of President Fran Hendricks, granted emeritus status to Russell Dodson at its March 22 meeting.
Dodson joined the Mansfield faculty in 1982 and served as chair of the Department of Geography and Geology, now known as the Department of Geosciences, from 1993 until 2014. He developed the Environmental Science program in Geography at MU.
Emeritus status is granted to retired full-time faculty in recognition of dedicated service to Mansfield University.
The action was based on the recommendation of the academic departments and Provost Steven Siconolfi, and followed a poll of senior faculty.
