MANSFIELD, PA—Six Mansfield University Computer Information Science (CIS) and Graphic Design students, accompanied by Career Center Director Nichole Lefelhoc, toured the Corning Museum of Glass (CMoG) on April 4 to learn about museum operations and internship opportunities.CMoG Tour.Modern Gallery4The students who participated in the event were Jacques Gates, Jason Heyer, Jeffrey Miller, Dylan Milroy, Perry White and Taylor McConnell.

Founded in 1951 by Corning Glass Works (now Corning Incorporated) as a gift to the nation for the company’s 100th anniversary, CMoG, located in Corning, NY, is a not-for-profit museum dedicated to telling the story of a single material: glass.

Jessica Trump, a 2006 MU graduate and CMoG supervisor for Volunteer and Internship Programs, offered the students an overview of the many facets of museum operations and the internship opportunities available with the museum. Students received a guided tour of the museum, which included a behind the scenes look at the Creative and Information Technology Departments.

“We’re excited for the opportunity to further strengthen ties with Mansfield University for these internship opportunities,” Trump said. “We see it as an excellent opportunity to foster the relationship with a local institution and develop local talent within the region.”CMoG Tour.Modern Gallery2

“I’m interested in seeing the workflow and gaining hands-on experience that will allow me to apply what I’ve learned in my classes to real world applications.” Jason Heyer, sophomore CIS major, said of the experience and the possibility of a CMoG internship.
