Michael Brown Sr. to Speak April 26

MANSFIELD, PA— Michael Brown Sr. will present “Chosen for Change – A Father’s Perspective” at  Straughn Hall on Wednesday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m. TheMichael Brown Sr. event is free and open to the public.

Michael Brown Sr. will share the true story of his experience of his son’s death, and reveal who Michael Brown Jr., was beyond the often demonizing media portrayals. He will speak of his joys as a parent, his loss, and his own guilt, with the ultimate goal of making sure this doesn’t happen to anyone else.

The name “Mike Brown” has become the national symbol of police shootings of unarmed Black men after his death in Ferguson, MO in August 2014.

Mike Brown Sr. hopes to work with the communities he speaks in to set up a chapter of “Chosen for Change,” an organization that educates youth to help one another instead of hurt one another, teaches them success and survival skills, and shows them how to be respectful of themselves and others.

Just this past month national media coverage has focused on new information about the way Mike Jr. was portrayed during that time.

This program is presented by the Student Activities Office and funded by student activity fees.
