Alumni Weekend 2017

MANSFIELD, PA—Alumni, family and friends returned to Mansfield University for Alumni Weekend 2017 on June 8-11. A total of 324 people attended a wide-variety of events throughout the weekend.The Class of 1967The Class of 1967, celebrating its 50th anniversary, was this year’s honored guests for alumni weekend. Members of the class who returned to MU were recognized, along with all classes with years ending in seven and two, at a luncheon on Saturday, retired faculty, administrators and staff were also honored.

Also at the luncheon, this year’s Society of Honors award winners were recognized. Rod Pursell ’88 was presented with the Elsie Burke Service Award. Merle Stilwell ’56 received the Alumni Citation Award. The Distinguished Educator Award was presented to Libby Morse French ’72.  Adam Murtland ’12 was named this year’s Outstanding Young Alumni.Society of Honors inductees (L-R) Merle Stilwell '56, Libby Morse French ’72, Adam Murtland ’12 and Rod Pursell ’88 with MU President Fran Hendricks '79. The weekend also featured tours of campus and events for alumni of Greek organizations, including the brothers of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity celebrating their 50th anniversary.

There was also an alumni golf tournament which serves as a fundraiser for athletic scholarships, an ice cream social hosted by President Fran Hendricks ’79 and his wife Connie, and several other social events, which offered opportunities to renew acquaintances and make news ones.
