Presidential Coin for Excellence Awarded to Kathy Wright

MANSFIELD, PA— Mansfield University President Fran Hendricks awarded the MU Presidential Coin for Excellence to Kathy Wright, professor and chair of the Department of Health Sciences, on July 19.MU President Fran Hendricks with Kathy Wright

The presentation took place at the Mansfield University Council of Trustees meeting.

“Not only does Dr. Wright do an exemplary job with her responsibilities in Health Sciences, she has also chaired and oversaw our successful Middle States re-accreditation in 2014 and continues to chair our Middle States assessment and self-study efforts,” Hendricks said. “At times these are fulltime responsibilities by themselves. Kathy has selflessly given her time and efforts to make sure MU maintains the highest standards in her department and across the campus. She is very deserving of this honor.”

Wright is a 1982 Mansfield graduate, who went on to earn her Masters and PhD at Penn State before returning to teach at her alma mater.

The coin was developed by Hendricks and designed by MU Senior Graphics Designer Andy Worthington. It is awarded selectively to persons who have contributed greatly to the university, using the Mansfield Creed; Character, Scholarship, Culture and Service as a guideline.

The coin bears several symbols representing historical highlights and other aspects of the university that make it distinctive.
