Mansfield Welcomes Professor Li Wang, Visiting Scholar from China

MANSFIELD, PA—Professor “Lillian” Li Wang of Xi’an University of Science and Technology (XUST) in Xi’an, China has joined the Mansfield University Department ofInterim President Scott Barton and Visiting Scholar “Lillian” Li Wang. Geosciences as a visiting scholar. She will stay at MU for six months, from the fall semester through the end of February.

Wang is one of only 30 visiting scholars currently at U.S. host institutions. She holds a Ph.D. in safety science and engineering.

Since 2010, Wang has been a lecturer in safety management at XUST. Over the last few years, she has published eight research articles, authored or edited four books, and received numerous awards, including the Shaanxi Provincial Teaching Achievement in 2015 and Shaanxi Province College and Universities Outstanding Teaching Materials in 2013. She also holds five patents for utility models as well as one invention patent.

Interim President Scott Barton formally welcomed Wang when she arrived.

During her stay at Mansfield, Wang will research occupational safety and health management, especially behavior based safety management. She will also observe classes, meet faculty and students, join campus activities, and give a presentation on her research. She also hopes to learn more about American culture and society. Wang has also invited MU faculty to submit proposals for the 11th annual International Mine Ventilation Conference, which will be hosted by her university in 2018.
