Concert Choir Departs for Europe

MANSFIELD, PA—The Mansfield University Concert Choir departedConert Choir & travel party before boarding the bus. for the 2014 World Choir Games on Monday, June 30.

The majority of the Choir and their party traveled by bus from MU to Philadelphia, where they will meet several students who lives in southeast Pennsylvania and will then fly to Europe.

The Choir, under the direction of Peggy Dettwiler, will compete at the World Choir Games, the largest international choral competition in the world, July 9-19 in Riga, Latvia.

They will visit and perform in Lübeck and Berlin, Germany, Warsaw, Poland and Vilnius, Lithuania before arriving in Riga, Latvia.

In 2008, in Graz, Austria, Mansfield won the championship in the Gospel & Spiritual Category and placed second among 36 choirs in the Mixed Youth Choir Category. In Cincinnati, OH in 2012, MU won three gold medals.
