MANSFIELD, PA—Alumni, family and friends returned to Mansfield University for Alumni Weekend 2018, attending a wide-variety of events throughout the weekend of June 7-10.
The Class of 1968, celebrating its 50th anniversary, was this year’s honored guests for alumni weekend. Members of the class who returned to MU were recognized at a luncheon on Saturday.
Also at the luncheon this year’s Society of Honors award winners were recognized. Steve McCloskey ’91 was presented with the Elsie Burke Service Award. Timothy Rooney ’88 received the Alumni Citation Award. The Distinguished Educator Award was presented to Kenneth Bianchi ’67. Karen Knaus ’07 was named this year’s Outstanding Young Alumni.Internationally recognized and award-winning author and photographer Linda (Etter) Long ’65 gave a presentation entitled “Conscious Intake” on Friday. The presentation focused on how to improve health, reduce animal usage, and help save the environment all in one delicious daily decision.
The weekend also featured a golf tournament, multiple yoga sessions, financial planning and retirement sessions, networking events, trivia, a choir alumni performance, vow renewals, a guided wild edible and medicinal plant identification hike, a tent party, tours of campus and more, all of which offered opportunities to renew acquaintances and make news ones.
