MANSFIELD, PA – Edgard “Gardy” Domenech of University Mail Services and a resident of Mansfield, received the Presidential Humanitarian Award during the 20th annual MARCUMS (Middle Atlantic Region of College and University Mail Services) conference held at Bucknell University on October 17.
Gardy has been heavily active with relief efforts on his home island of Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.
Gardy gave a presentation during the conference and explained the significance of the Puerto Rico Relief Drive. He also commended the 13 Mansfield University students who volunteered their time for this community service project over their winter break.
MARCUMS Vice President, Monica Brink presented the award saying that “He was nominated by multiple members. The dedication he portrayed in helping with the aftermath of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico was an example to all. He immediately assisted the citizens of Puerto Rico with much needed supplies and created a way to ensure a continued source of clean water. He engaged not only his community but the students at Mansfield University. Gardy made a difference in the lives of fellow Americans.”
