MANSFIELD, PA– Alumni, family, and friends will return to Mansfield University on October 4 and 5 to celebrate a “Throwback” Homecoming Weekend. This year’s events include a golf tournament, garden bar, Athletic Hall of Fame inductions, two PRISM performances, the annual homecoming parade, a competitive tailgate and a “Spirit of the Ages” competition between students and alumni. Saturday afternoon, the Mountaineer football team faces off against Alderson Broaddus University. Post-game, Chango’s Cantina invites alumni & friends to a Red & Black celebration. Below is a list of events for each day:
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4
Golf Tournament, 9
a.m.
This year’s activities tee off on
Friday morning with the MU Alumni & Friends Homecoming Golf
Tournament, at the Corey Creek Golf Club. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m.
with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. A tiered entry fee structure includes greens
fees, cart, food & beverage, and prizes. For more information and to

Garden Bar, 4 p.m.
– 10 p.m.
Relax
on campus Friday night at the Garden Bar in the center quad of campus. Listen
to music, engage with faculty & staff, students and fellow alumni as you
sip your favorite beverage next to a warm fire in the crisp fall air. Bluestone
Brewing Company will be on site offering a variety of craft beers, wine, craft
sodas, and water.

Alumni-Athletic
Hall of Fame, 5:15 p.m.
The Alumni-Athletic Hall of Fame
Induction Ceremony, to include a reception and dinner will take place in
the North Manser Dining Room at 5:15 p.m. Pre-registration is required

Among the most popular events
presented annually by the Mansfield University Music Department, PRISM, will be
performed twice during Homecoming Weekend. Performances will be held on Friday,
October 4 and Saturday, October 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Steadman Theatre.
Featuring 20 musical groups with more
than 200 musicians in just 75 minutes, guests will enjoy a musical prism of
sound uninterrupted by pause or applause for a theatre-in-the-round experience.
The concert offers a wide variety of
music – from jazz to classical styles and everything in between, as well as a
wide range of ensembles, big and small, instrumental and vocal. Ticket prices
are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and non-MU students. MU students are

SATURDAY, OCTOBER

Butsko Breakfast,
8:00 a.m.
The Butsko Breakfast has been an
annual event since 1986 to honor the memory of former Mountaineer assistant
coach Frank Butsko who was killed in an automobile accident during a recruiting
trip. The highlight of the Butsko Breakfast is the presentation of the Frank
Butsko Award. It is the most prestigious award that can be bestowed on a
Mountaineer football player. The Butsko Breakfast will be held in North Manser

Parade, 10 a.m.
On Saturday morning, the Homecoming
parade will make its way up Main Street at 10:00 a.m. We encourage
everyone near and far to come out to the parade and show your Mountaineer

Tailgate
Competition, 11 a.m.
A tailgate competition will be held
at 11:00 a.m. in the upper N parking lots (located above Steadman Theater).
Leading up to kickoff of the Homecoming football game versus Alderson Broaddus
University, students and alumni are encouraged to participate and compete in a
tailgate competition. Tailgates will be evaluated in three categories: Most
Creative, Best School Spirit, and Largest Tailgate, based on fan base.
Tailgates will be judged by university faculty & staff persons and representatives
from the Mansfield University Alumni Association Board of Directors. Winners
will be announced at halftime and presented with their prize. For more

“Spirit of
the Ages” Competition, First half of Sprint Football Game
During the first half of the football
game, alumni and students will have the opportunity to compete against one
another in a “Spirit of the Ages” competition. At the football game, there will
be designated student and alumni sections. Each section will be evaluated on
three categories: Most School Spirited, Loudest Cheering Section, and Largest
Participation in Fan Base. The “Spirit of the Ages” competition will be judged
by university faculty & staff persons and representatives from the
Mansfield University Alumni Association Board of Directors. At halftime of the
football game, the winning section will be announced. For more

Sprint Football, 1
p.m. Kickoff
The Mountaineers sprint football team will take on new CSFL
member Alderson Broaddus University at 1 p.m. at Karl Van Norman Field. The Spirit
and the Pride of Pennsylvania Marching Band will perform at halftime.
Red & Black
Chango’s, 5 p.m. – 12 a.m.
Chango’s Cantina on Main St.,
Mansfield will host Red & Black Chango’s, starting at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wear
your Mansfield Red & Black gear and receive drink and food specials until
12 AM. The first 100 customers to visit the sea of red & black (AKA
Chango’s) will receive MU swag.
