Mansfield University Welcomes Two Visiting Scholars from China

MANSFIELD, PA – This academic year, Mansfield University is hosting two visiting scholars from China. “Vikki” Xu Chen and “Coral” Shan Deng are visiting from partner universities and will be on campus until February 23. During their stay at Mansfield, Vikki and Coral are observing classes, conducting research in their fields, and exploring the area. They will be invited to present their research and write a reflection on their experiences at the end of their visit.

Vikki is from Weihai, Shandong Province. She is an associate researcher at Northeast Asia Research Center and a lecturer of theory and politics at Shandong University. At Mansfield, Vikki is researching in the Department of History, Philosophy and Political Science. She is also studying sociology and international politics and hopes to use her time here to enhance her teaching methods and her understanding of American political science.

Coral is from Haikou, Hainan
Province, where she teaches English at Hainan University. She is joining the
English and World Languages Department at Mansfield to conduct research in
language teaching, bilingual teaching, and cultural communication. So far, she
has been observing EWL classes, researching, and reading up on literature and
the English language.
