Mansfield University Music Department Presents ‘The Phantom of the Opera’

MANSFIELD, PA (02/13/2023) The Mansfield University Music Department will present “The Phantom of the Opera” March 2-5 in Straughn Auditorium. Showtimes are March 2-4 at 7:30 p.m. each night and March 5 at 2:30 p.m.

Based on the novel Le Fantome de l’Opera, by Gaston Leroux, “The Phantom of the Opera” tells the story of a masked figure who lurks beneath the catacombs of the Paris Opera House, exercising a reign of terror over all who inhabit it. He falls madly in love with an innocent young soprano, Christine, and devotes himself to creating a new star by nurturing her extraordinary talents.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s score includes, “Think of Me,” “Angel of Music,” “Music of the Night,” “All I Ask of You,” “Masquerade” and the title song.

The performances will feature 36 student cast members, directed by Peter Davis, with music director, Dr. Todd E. Ranney.

“The Phantom of the Opera” is the longest running Broadway musical, celebrating its 35th anniversary in January and will close on Broadway in April.

Tickets are available in advance at mansfield.booktix.com or at the door 1 hour before each performance. Tickets are $18 for adults, $12 for students and $8 for children.
