Brass Band to Compete at Championships

MANSFIELD, PA— The Mansfield University Brass Band, under the direction of Nathan Rinnert, will compete at the North American Brass Band Championships in Fort Wayne, IN on March 13-14.MU Brass Band 2014-15On Friday, March 13, Mansfield will be represented by two soloists, Dylan Krall on tenor horn and Marissa Pattison on euphonium, a brass quintet, a tuba-euphonium quartet and a percussion trio.

The full band will compete on Saturday, March 14 against 27 other bands. The competition takes place at the Embassy Theater.

“Competing is important to the band,” Rinnert said. “Not competition that leads to bringing home a trophy, but competition that serves each individual and the group to make us all better today than we were yesterday. We’ll do our best.”

On the trip to Fort Wayne, The MU Brass Band will make a stop at Avon High School outside to Cleveland, OH on Wednesday, March 11 to rehearse, work with the students at the school and perform in concert that evening.
