MANSFIELD, PA—Members of the Mansfield University Residence Life staff finished the spring semester with a massive effort that benefitted the Goodwill of North Central Pennsylvania. In late April, Social work students arranged to have Goodwill blue collection bins placed outside Hickory, Oak and Spruce Residence Halls as a class project.
Building on the momentum of that effort, and as students were leaving the residence halls for the summer, Mansfield’s Residence Life staff took over collecting, sorting and packing donated items, coordinating with Goodwill to pick up the bins when full, and even helping load Goodwill trucks when they came to campus.
One bin, that collected clothing and shoes, was emptied seven times. In addition to those kinds of items, the efforts of members of the Residence Life staff resulted in the collection of 10 moving carts of other useful donations being collected.
Residence Life staff involved in the effort were; Ben Auger, Colleen Moore, Suraju Jolaoso, Dusty Zeyn, Keri Aldinger, Jessica Cowan, Holly Dewey, Sadye Carn, Abigail Zdancewicz, Hunter Hill, Austin Joseph, Shakim Blackwell, Hilary Feudale, Paul Gurba, Austin Boroch, Corrine Shaffer and Eric Rodriguez.
All items collected will be distributed to people in need through Goodwill of North Central Pennsylvania.
