MANSFIELD, PA—The countdown to Mansfield University’s LUMA (Light Up Mansfield Again) 2015 and Field Hockey Centennial Celebration, as part of Family and Friends Weekend on October 9-11, is underway with the public release of the first video to promote the event.
The video, entitled “Family. Legacy. Tradition.,” focuses on Mansfield place in history as the site of the world’s first night football On September 28, 1892. It was written, produced and directed by the MU Department of Marketing videography team of Chyenne Bostwick ’15, Adam Murtland’12 and Mark Polonia.
In its first day of release, the video has been viewed more than 12,000 times through MU social media platforms and at the web site lightupmansfield.com
Mansfield is also marking the 100th anniversary of its field hockey program on that weekend. A video promoting that part of MU’s history is in production and will be released soon.
The Mountaineers field hockey team will take on Kutztown on Saturday, October 10 at 2 p.m. in the program’s centennial celebration.
“This will be a great weekend for Mansfield as we celebrate our rich history and welcome our alumni, family and friends to campus to be part of marking the 100th year of field hockey and LUMA,” MU President Fran Hendricks ’79 said.
The Field Hockey Centennial Celebration and LUMA are part of Family and Friends Weekend at Mansfield. The weekend will feature concerts and other activities leading up to the MU football game against Army West Point at 7 p.m. on October 10.
