MU Hosts Language Faculty from SUNY-Geneseo

MANSFIELD, PA—Mansfield University Modern Languages faculty and Jimmy Guignard, chair of the English and Modern Languages Department, hosted a delegation from the Languages and Literature Department at SUNY Geneseo, MU’s nearest Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC) neighbor, on October 2.(L-R, front row) Beverly Evans, Cynthia Klima, Lori Bernard. Professor of Spanish and chair Lori Bernard, Professor of French Beverly Evans and Cynthia Klima, associate professor of German and coordinator for the German Minor and Central and Eastern European Studies Minor, were welcomed by Provost Steve Siconolfi after attending a short student concert in Steadman Theater. Mansfield music students performed European songs in French, German and Italian, and one with a Spanish theme.

“The English and Modern Languages faculty and our visitors held an in-depth conversation about strategies and approaches for enhancing Mansfield University’s language offerings within the framework of a COPLAC institution,” Guignard said.

John Ulrich, interim associate dean of Faculty, joined the panel later in the day and continued discussions of collaborations between SUNY-Geneseo and Mansfield, including meeting regularly and involving students in activities such as mini-conferences and language days.
