MANSFIELD, PA— Johanna Byrd, executive director of Pennsylvania chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW-PA), visited Mansfield University on March 22 to talk with students about political advocacy.Speaking to more than 70 MU Social Work majors, she encouraged students to get involved in the upcoming Legislative Advocacy Day on April 12 in Harrisburg and explained how the social work profession effectively lobbies for legislation.
Byrd described the day at the capitol as “an amazing day of advocacy and education. This is our largest event of the year with almost 900 attendees in 2015.This year we expect an even larger crowd.”
The Social Work Club sponsored a potluck luncheon to welcome Byrd.
