The Breaking Winds Bassoon Quartet to Perform April 26

MANSFIELD, PA— The Breaking Winds Bassoon Quartet (BWBQ), a one-of-a-kind chamber ensemble that combines classical training with pop culture and theatrics, will perform in concert on Tuesday, April 26, 7 p.m. in Steadman Theatre.BWBQThe members of BWBQ began performing together in 2008 while they were undergraduate students at the Eastman School of Music. Four women wielding four bassoons, the BWBQ operate as a band, traveling throughout the U.S. and abroad to present high-energy shows of their own material.

The quartet’s repertoire–by turns baroque, funky, cinematic and classis, reflects the diverse musical tastes of its members. Dancing, skits, and accessory instruments set a joyous and eccentric tone, and comedic touches serve to both celebrate and poke fun at the rich traditions of Western music. The result is a product that is current and creative.
