MANSFIELD, PA— The Breaking Winds Bassoon Quartet (BWBQ), a one-of-a-kind chamber ensemble that combines classical training with pop culture and theatrics, will perform in concert on Tuesday, April 26, 7 p.m. in Steadman Theatre.
The members of BWBQ began performing together in 2008 while they were undergraduate students at the Eastman School of Music. Four women wielding four bassoons, the BWBQ operate as a band, traveling throughout the U.S. and abroad to present high-energy shows of their own material.
The quartet’s repertoire–by turns baroque, funky, cinematic and classis, reflects the diverse musical tastes of its members. Dancing, skits, and accessory instruments set a joyous and eccentric tone, and comedic touches serve to both celebrate and poke fun at the rich traditions of Western music. The result is a product that is current and creative.

Tickets are $10, $5 for students and will be available at the door. MU students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with ID.
