Homecoming 2016

MANSFIELD, PA– Alumni, family and friends returned to Mansfield University to celebrate Homecoming 2016 on October 14-16.   This year’s theme was “Family. Legacy. Tradition!”Homecoming Queen Rachel Hohenwarter and King Lascelles Boothe with MU President Fran Hendricks. Rachel Hohenwarter was named Homecoming Queen and Lascelles Boothe was named Homecoming King. The royal couple was crowned by MU President Fran Hendricks during halftime ceremonies of the Mountaineers football game against Franklin Pierce University on Saturday.

Hohenwarter is a senior from New Providence, PA. She represented the Residence Hall Association in the campus-wide voting. Hohenwarter is also a member of the MU Track Team.

Boothe is a senior from Philadelphia, PA.  He represented the Black Students Union.

Earlier in the day, the annual Homecoming parade made its way up Main Street to the delight of the crowd lining both the street.

Friday night, the MU Alumni Athletic Hall of Fame welcomed four new members during inductions ceremonies at Manser Hall.(L-R) MU President Fran Hendricks with 2016 Hall of Fame inductees Robert "Bobby" Widhson '76, Scott Setzer '96, Patricia Masters O'Neill '91 snd Richard "Riki" Kimble '89.Richard “Riki” Kimble ’89 (football), Patricia Masters O’Neill ’91 (softball), Scott Setzer ’96 (wrestling) and Robert “Bobby” Widhson ’76 (football) were enshrined.  The new Hall of Famers were also honored during the Homecoming parade and before the football game.

The weekend marked the official celebration of Mansfield’s 125-year football history. Mountaineers from many eras returned to mark the occasion.homecoming-2016-3Homecoming Weekend also included a golf tournament, a pre-game alumni tent party, concerts and other activities.
