Biology Students Excel at State Meeting

MANSFIELD, PA— Three Mansfield University Biology students gave research presentations at the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania University Biologists (CPUB) meeting at Kutztown University on April 8. (L-R) Claire Bachman, Bob Maris, Jessica Towey, Matthew Moccia, Danielle Knoeppel, Stephanie Hendricks, Kristen Long.Stephanie Hendricks (Mansfield, PA), mentored by Assistant Professor Kristen Long, won first place for her oral presentation in the Cellular and Molecular Biology category.

Danielle Knoeppel (Catawissa, PA), mentored by Sarah Hazelton and Professor Jeanne Kagle, took second place for her oral presentation in the Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology category.

Jessica Towey (Oxford, PA) gave a poster presentation in the Cellular and Molecular Biology category. She was directed by Long.  Claire Bachman (Germansville, PA) also attended.

Matthew Moccia (Perkiomenville, PA) was recognized as Mansfield’s Outstanding Biology Student at the meeting.

Professor and Department Chair Robert Maris serves as Mansfield’s CPUB Director and CPUB Student Presentation Judging Coordinator.

MU will host the CPUB meeting in 2018, tentatively scheduled for April 6-8.
