MANSFIELD, PA—The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) has accepted Mansfield University’s Periodic Review Report (PRR) and reaffirmed its accreditation through 2022.
The PRR is a self-report which demonstrates that Mansfield meets the standards set by the Commission when it last renewed MU’s accreditation in 2012. It applies to all areas of the University, from the classroom to academic support to student activities and residential life.
“Middle States accreditation is a significant external confirmation of our university’s ability to meet national standards in higher education,” Interim President Scott Barton said in making the announcement. “At Mansfield, our sole focus is to provide meaningful learning opportunities for our students that will enable them to achieve their academic, career, and life goals. The Periodic Review Report is the culmination of an important process of self-evaluation that helps us ensure that we are continuing to focus on, and fulfill, that purpose. I want to thank our PRR steering committee and particularly Dr. Kathy Wright, chairperson of the Department of Health Sciences, who led us through the review process.”
In addition to Wright, the PRR Committee members are Associate Professor Josh Battin, Registrar Lori Cass, student Katie Christman, Director of Institutional Research John Cosgrove, Professor Karen Guenther, Director of the Career Center Nichole Lefelhoc, Professor Clarence Lienhard, Interim Associate Provost and Dean of Faculty Nancy Sidell, Interim Provost John Ulrich and Trustee Bruce Vickery. Tammy Hagar provided administrative support for the committee.
MSCHE is a voluntary, non-governmental, membership association that defines, maintains and promotes educational excellence across institutions with diverse missions, student populations and resources. The commission is dedicated to quality assurance and improvement through accreditation via peer evaluation.
Middle States accreditation instills public confidence in institutional mission, goals, performance, and resources through its rigorous accreditation standards and their enforcement.
