State System Chancellor to Visit Mansfield for LUMA Festivities

MANSFIELD, PA—Pennsylvania State System Chancellor Frank T. Frank T. BroganBrogan will throw the ceremonial switch to “Light Up Mansfield Again” (LUMA) before the Mountaineers football game against the University of Pennsylvania on Saturday, September 20 at Karl Van Norman Field.

“We are honored that Chancellor Brogan and his family will be able to join us Saturday as we celebrate Mansfield’s history as the birthplace of night football and our future of playing under the lights,” MU President Fran Hendricks said in making the announcement.

“I’m looking forward to being part of this remarkable celebration of Mansfield University’s unique place in football history,” Brogan said. “As both a football fan and a bit of a history buff, I can’t wait to throw the switch to light up the night and enjoy the game between the Mounties and Quakers.”

Mansfield hosted the world’s first night football game in 1892 and didn’t play another night home game until last September.

Brogan and his family will spend the day in Mansfield, visiting campus and taking part in the Family & Friends Weekend activities that lead up to the football game. Pregame ceremonies will get underway at 7 p.m. with kickoff slated for 7:35 p.m.
